“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17

Words and Deeds

Los Angeles Dodgers ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw understands the simplicity of Colossians 3:17, that our words and deeds are equally important.

Kershaw, a 3-time National League Cy Young award winner (2011, 2013 and 2014) told Sports Spectrum: “A lot of people get an outside glance of your life, especially when they’re a fan watching you on TV. You can’t straight up talk to them about your faith, so I try to show people how a Christian should live their life. I’m not perfect, it’s not easy, and I make mistakes, but that’s what I try to do.”

He understands that most people who watch him pitch on TV or who read about him in the sports pages or on the internet, will never get to speak to him personally—but they will get to see him and hear how he says things.

Even the smallest thing can impact someone, whether through word or deed.

You may not be as famous as a pro athlete, but you are given daily opportunities to live your life for Christ in front of those who you come in contact with at work, school, home, and outside of those places.

Live your life for Christ, in your words and deeds, so that others can see Him clearly.
