Deshaun Watson leads Texans to first win, wows fans and players with touchdown run

On his 22nd birthday Thursday night, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson made his first start as an NFL quarterback, leading his team to a 13-9 win on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The former Clemson quarterback, who led his team to a thrilling last-second National Championship victory over Alabama back in January, impressed in his debut with 192 combined yards of offense both passing and rushing.

But it was his speed and elusiveness that impressed both fans and players alike in the second quarter, when Watson took a snap and rolled right, dodging a few defenders and taking it 49 yards for the rushing touchdown.

Watson’s dazzling touchdown proved to be the game-winner for Houston and immediately after the score, twitter went crazy with reaction.

Watson, a believer in Jesus Christ, has openly talked about his faith and how it is the center of all that he is as a person.

“It’s very big,” Watson said of his faith at Woodlands Church . “It gets me through life. The good times and the bad.”

As sports fans, we’re looking forward to seeing where Deshaun Watson’s career heads, but one thing is for sure, his life and trust and hope isn’t found in football, it is found in Jesus Christ.
