Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis' cancer returns, needs chemotherapy.

Colorado Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis shared an update today on his twitter page that his cancer had returned and that he was going to begin chemotherapy in the near future.

Bettis, who was given a diagnosis of testicular cancer just a few months ago, had surgery this off-season and doctors had declared him cancer free. But in a routine test a few days ago, Bettis said in his statement that the cancer had returned and spread.

Support immediately came from many people in the Major League Baseball community.

Bettis, 27, led the Rockies in wins last season going 14-8 with 138 strikeouts and was hopeful he would help lead a very young pitching rotation in 2017.

“It’s unfortunate,” he told the Denver Post on Friday. “It sucks, to be honest.”

His prognosis for a healthy recovery is good, in the 90 percent range, he told the Post. Bettis will start chemotherapy treatment sometime soon.

In an interview with 9 News a few weeks ago, Bettis shared how his faith helped him get through his first bout of cancer.

Chad’s twitter bio mentions the verse Romans 8:18, where the apostle Paul states: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

He and his wife Kristina are expecting their first child later this month.

Our prayers are with Chad for a speedy recovery.
