Horacio Ramirez was selected in the fifth round of the 1997 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves and made his MLB debut on April 2, 2003, with Atlanta. His career saw him pitch with the Braves, Royals, Mariners, White Sox and Angels. He last pitched in a major-league game in September 2011.
A big part of Ramirez’s journey has been serving, and he’s currently involved with Water Mission, a Christian engineering ministry that fights the global water crisis. He recently took a trip to Mexico and visited several areas where Water Mission is serving.
Today on the podcast, we talk to Ramirez about his faith in Jesus fueling him to serve with Water Mission, lessons learned on the mound from teammates John Smoltz and Greg Maddux, and his new hobby of collecting baseball cards.
