Mike Matheny played 13 MLB seasons as a catcher with the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. He played in the 2004 World Series with the Cardinals and won four Gold Gloves.
After his playing career, Matheny went into coaching and was the Cardinals manager from 2012-18, leading the club to the National League title in 2013. He also managed the Kansas City Royals from 2020-22.
In this conversation on “Get in the Game” with Scott Linebrink, Mike Matheny shares about his playing career as a defensive catcher, moving into a coaching role, how he shares his faith, growing as a leader, and overcoming difficult circumstances. Mike also shares for the first time publicly, about overcoming a brain subarachnoid hemorrhage in January of 2024.
