You are Not Alone

When trials come, it’s easy to feel like we are alone. Especially in sports. When we are the goat and miss the game-winning shot, we feel like nobody is in our corner.

Feeling along, sometimes, we might be tempted to think thoughts such as, “This is just my luck,” or “What did I do to deserve this?” These thoughts are not of God and far from the truth. While our actions do have consequences, many times the trials we go through have nothing to do with what we’ve done wrong. Scripture says that the trials that we face are great opportunities for growth!

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” —James 1:2-4

Not only do trials deepen our faith and strengthen our resolve, they also bring us closer to Christ, knowing that He experienced the very same struggles that we do!

“For this reason He had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.” —Hebrews 2:17-18

You are not alone. Draw close to the one who has gone before you and set a great example of persevering through trials.
