“13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” – Colossians 3:13-14

Unity

The apostle Paul wrote Colossians and here he describes the importance of loving each other. I feel like in today’s world we are so far removed from that. Even as Christians, we are falling short and not showing love as we ought to.

With love, comes the willingness to understand others and what they are going through. In a society where everything is instantaneous, we forget to sit back and listen. In order to listen, you must have love in your heart.

Let’s stop listening to correct and start listening to understand.

At the 2:44 mark of the below video, Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey talks about the importance of unity for his team, but also for the world.

McCaffrey sets a good example for us all. He says to strive to be the best version of yourself, to wake up with a smile on your face, and to avoid spreading negativity. He goes on to say that a good place to start understanding unity is by reading your Bible.

Which takes us back to Colossians. The most important aspect of unity is love. Without one, there cannot be the other. Let’s challenge ourselves to listen to other points of view, especially if we do not agree with them.

Remember, the goal is unity and we cannot establish unity without love.

Find somebody to love today.
