My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
The Power of Weakness
I remember the first time I went hiking. To say I was unprepared for the challenge is an understatement. My friend, who had hiked many times before, took me on the most strenuous trail up the mountain. Every time I faltered, his encouragement and tips kept me going. I had to rely on him to make it up that mountain. My weakness was a time for his strength to shine.
God’s power works in much the same way. The Bible says God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. In our society, and the sports world especially, being strong and powerful is the mark of greatness. It’s seen as true success when we can accomplish things on our own. But as Christians, it’s OK to rest in the Lord. In fact, He loves it when we do because it makes us more aware that we are nothing without Him.
So the next time you’re feeling weak, tell the Lord. Rely on Him and give His power a chance to shine through you.
