“Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” — 2 Corinthians 3:4-5
Dare to Dream Big
Becoming one of the best athletes in the world obviously takes an incredible amount of skill, but there’s more to it than just talent. There are the countless hours of practice, the extra work you have to put in on your own, and all of the time you sacrifice that could be spent doing any number of other things.
Why does athlete after athlete dedicate so much time and energy to a sport? They’re chasing a dream. Whether it’s basketball, baseball, football, soccer or any sport, the dream looks different for different people, but they are all setting goals for themselves and then working to achieve them.
We should be dreaming big too! Our confidence comes not from what we can do by ourselves, but from what God can do through us. When you think about it that way, we are probably dreaming too small because God is all-powerful. With Him, all things are possible.
I sometimes find myself forgetting that and not dreaming large enough. Dreaming is similar to faith in many ways. The size of our dreams most likely have a direct correlation to what we believe God can achieve. If we’re dreaming about something we can do on our own, we’re dreaming too small! I encourage you to dream big and have faith in what God can do through you.
