“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38-39

The world of sports can be quite the roller coaster. It is easy to anchor worth to performance or what coaches, teammates or the crowd think. Inevitably, we will fail or fall short at some point.
So what keeps me going when I’m tempted to stop, what brings me back when I’m tempted to quit, what gives me hope when I feel discouraged, and what brings me peace when I fail miserably is the fact that God loves me no matter what. The Bible says God loves everybody. It says so in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world…” God loves everyone so much that He offers them forgiveness and salvation.
For those of us who have received this salvation by faith in His Son, we experience a whole new realm of God’s love. His love for those of us who believe in His Son is next level. But don’t get it twisted — when you sin, even as a believer, consequences are generated that you cannot escape. Still, it does not diminish the Lord’s love for you one bit. God is the believer’s biggest fan. Nothing can cause the Lord to reject, stop loving, or turn His back on you.
Paul declares in Romans 8:38-39 (above) that nothing — nothing — could ever separate us from the love of God. Christian, do you hear that? Let that sink in! As a disciple of Christ, you are loved unconditionally, unfailingly and eternally. Remember this and it will sustain you through everything you face, even your greatest failure.
