THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING CLAY HOLMES
Clay Holmes is a relief pitcher with the New York Yankees. In 2022, he settled in as the team’s closer, finishing with 20 saves, a 2.54 ERA and a spot on the American League All-Star team. In last year’s postseason, he helped the Yankees to the AL Championship Series and allowed zero runs in five postseason appearances.
Holmes was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the ninth round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of high school in Slocomb, Alabama. He made his MLB debut in April 2018 with Pittsburgh, and remained there until a mid-season trade in 2021 to New York.
Today on the podcast, we talk to Clay Holmes about growing up as the son of a pastor, the impact his father had on him to serve others, being patient in his baseball career, and finding his identity in Jesus.
