Philip Haywood is the football head coach at Belfry High School in the small town of Belfry, Kentucky. He is the all-time winningest high school coach in the state of Kentucky, with 472 career victories and eight state championships across 48 seasons. The last 39 have been at Belfry.

In 2013, Haywood was voted USA Today’s Best High School Football Coach. In 2017, he was named National High School Football Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.

His new book about the highs and lows on his path to success, “Climb the Mountain,” released in May 2023.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Philip Haywood about his coaching journey, keeping Jesus first, serving as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle leader while coaching, and the importance of getting a little better each day.
