THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING SCOTT NAGY

Scott Nagy was named the men’s basketball head coach at Southern Illinois on March 28. He began his coaching career in the late 1980s with Illinois before becoming a head coach in 1995 at South Dakota State. After 11 years, he moved to Wright State, where he coached from 2016-2024. As a Division I head coach, Nagy has led his teams to five NCAA Tournament berths.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Coach Nagy about his journey of faith and coaching. He discusses his upbringing in a Christian home, his struggles with performance-based faith, and the recent decision to move to Southern Illinois. He emphasizes the importance of prioritizing character, discipline and accountability over winning, and encourages young coaches to pursue a relationship with Jesus and focus on the players.
