Purdue student Tyler Trent gives glory to God as he battles terminal bone cancer

Twenty-year-old Purdue student Tyler Trent is in hospice care battling terminal bone cancer.

On Saturday morning, ESPN aired an incredible feature on Trent displaying the courage and fight in him since being diagnosed at age 15. It’s a must-watch to understand the bravery of this young man:

In the feature, reporter Tom Rinaldi asked him how he sees the future. Trent’s response turned right to football. “Immediate future in my mind is that Purdue beats Ohio State next Saturday,” he said.

His prediction came true. Purdue upset the No. 2 team in the country on Saturday night, 49-20. One day before, Trent didn’t think he’d be able to attend the game, but the Lord made a way and there he was, in person, watching his beloved Boilermakers beat the Buckeyes.

“I just want to say ‘Boiler Up,'” Trent said after opening up Purdue coach Jeff Brohm’s postgame news conference. “I’m super happy that my prediction came true.”

On Sunday afternoon, Trent took to Twitter to share his thoughts on an incredibly emotional weekend.

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18-20

Join us in praying for Tyler as he continues his battle, and for the Trent family as they walk through this with Tyler. May God’s peace and comfort be with them.
