Football is a game of highs and lows.
In the final wild-card game of the NFL’s first playoff weekend, the defending Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles prevailed over the Chicago Bears in a nail-biting game that came down to one final kick.
With 10 seconds left, and Chicago trailing 16-15, kicker Cody Parkey came on to attempt a 43-yard field goal that would have given the Bears a victory. After being iced by Eagles coach Doug Pederson calling a timeout, Parkey’s kick went a little left, hit the upright, bounced off the cross bar and fell just short.
The Bears lost.

Parkey’s reaction right after the missed kick was clearly sorrow and dejection. But immediately following that, on the NBC broadcast, he was shown pointing to the sky. And soon after, he joined the postgame prayer huddle with members of both teams at the 50-yard line.

Parkey’s reaction is a great reminder that there are many more important things than football. Jesus remains on the throne in good times and bad.
