OneCoach: Any Questions?

“Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtains guidance.” — Proverbs 1:5 (ESV)

As a coach, I always encouraged my players to ask questions within the training sessions and within the games. I encouraged them to ask questions if they didn’t understand or couldn’t figure out something. Hopefully I’d have the answer.

Asking questions is a great way to learn. But another way to learn is to simply listen. I think of the number of athletes I coached who asked the same questions their teammates asked before. Had they listened they would know the answer.

This is a lesson my father taught me very early on about being a student of the game: Listen when others are talking and asking questions, because you never know what you can learn or when you may garner greater understanding.

Today, whatever you’re doing, continue to listen and learn. I challenge you to listen to what others are saying and hearing from God, because you never know what you will learn. True wisdom, as Solomon says, comes to those who listen, not to those who just ask.
