The trophy presentation is the culmination of every championship. After the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell presented Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The commissioner took what was in his hands — the trophy — and placed it in Clark’s hands.
Since it was presented to him, Clark could now do whatever he wanted with it. And of course, he lifted it high in the air to celebrate his team’s Super Bowl victory. He then passed it around to the coaches and players. Some kissed the trophy, some took selfies with it, and some let their wives and children hold the trophy.
In Romans 6:19, Christians are told to present their bodies as slaves of righteousness: “Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.” We are to hand over our mind, hands, feet, emotions, will — basically, our total being — to God as slaves of righteousness. Before we trusted Christ, we presented ourselves as slaves of impurity and lawlessness. But having died with Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin but can choose to serve righteousness, which leads to holiness.
So every day, as you start your day, have a presentation ceremony. Present yourself to God as His servant. Give every part of yourself to Him as a slave of righteousness. Hand your will, emotions, desires, body and mind over to Him. Pray, “Lord, I present myself, all that I am, to You.”
