Strength is a key component for the competitive athlete.

Bench pressing with low repetitions and high resistance will cause rapid and steady strength gain in the chest and upper body. Plyometric training will promote explosive quadriceps contractions for peak performance on the field. Balanced nutritional intake will promote greater lean body muscle mass. Proper hydration will regulate your body’s metabolic rate to improve muscle volume. Sufficient rest will regenerate muscle fatigue and soreness. Focused fitness preparation will raise the ability of any athlete to a champion’s level.

But as Christians, we depend on God’s strength. His strength can overwhelm our greatest weakness. As we yield to Him, His power will be displayed through us. We can be empowered with all power by the perfect strength of the perfect God. Colossians 1:11 (NLT) tells us what happens when we are strengthened by Him: “We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need.”

His strength can produce endurance and patience in our lives. His strength is our victory. His strength can be our strength and our strength can be His glory. As we compete with His strength, let us accomplish for His glory.
