NEW PODCAST: Chris Burke, Former MLB player

THIS IS EPISODE 201 OF THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST

Chris Burke was selected in the first round of the 2001 MLB Draft (10th overall) by the Houston Astros. The University of Tennessee product was named Double-A Round Rock MVP in 2003, and then won the 2004 Pacific Coast League Rookie of the Year in Triple-A with the New Orleans Zephyrs.

Burke made his MLB debut on July 4, 2004, against the Texas Rangers, and got his first MLB hit on September 14, 2004, against the Cardinals.

In 2005, Burke became a hero to the Houston Astros faithful, as he hit a walk-off, series-ending home run in the 18-inning marathon that was Game 4 of the National League Division Series against Atlanta.

On this episode of the podcast, we get Burke’s thoughts on the 2018 Boston Red Sox, throwing out the first pitch of Game 4 of the 2018 ALCS, meeting Christian singer Tauren Wells, where his faith in Christ was rooted, and what it was like to hit that series-ending home run in 2005.
