The Chosen
Let’s look at these five statements and see if any of these, at any point in your life, has been a response to God:
1) I’m not good enough.
2) I don’t have all the answers.
3) People won’t listen to me.
4) I don’t have a powerful voice.
5) I’m not qualified.
Does this sound like you? I’ve certainly thrown these comments at God after He has called me to do something. Imagine standing in front of God, face to face, and actually uttering all of these excuses at once in a short conversation. (I’d be terrified to say one.) And then God has an answer for all of this, and still believes in you because He has chosen you to do His work. Welcome to world of Moses!
These five responses were all Moses could muster up when he met God and was appointed to be His vessel. I wonder why we put so many people in the Bible on a pedestal because of what we read. We look at their highlights but fail to engage in their behind-the-scenes moments. Moses was a mess, but became one of God’s greatest messengers. God had a plan and a calling on his life that no man could stop.
The same goes for each of us. This season is about witnessing people stepping out and into their callings. Writers, musicians, entrepreneurs, athletes, pastors, teachers — I’m expectant that so many of you are ready to step into something so great.
But what is your response to God going to be? What if we change those responses Moses first gave God? Let’s rewrite the script:
1) I AM enough because You have chosen me.
2) I HAVE all the answers because Your Word stands firm.
3) People WILL listen to me because I rely on You.
4) I OWN a powerful voice because You have gifted me with one.
5) I AM qualified because You are a God who doesn’t call the qualified, but You qualify the called.
Be encouraged that you are chosen. People need what God has placed on your heart to be drawn out. The time will never be perfect for you to say “yes” to God. But start today with an affirmative response and a simple “yes.” God will do the rest.
