“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” — Ephesians 6:12
Temptation is Real
Temptation is real to all believers, and it is vital that we understand our enemy has one goal in mind: He wants to destroy our lives (see John 10:10).
Thankfully, we have some strategies laid out in God’s Word that can apply to our daily lives so we can recognize and overcome temptation (see Matthew 4:1-11):
- The Bible: Jesus always went back to God’s Word. He combated lies with truth!
- Other believers: Who we hang with usually plays a big part with temptation. Be with the right people in the right places.
- Set boundaries: Make a list — these are places I won’t go, these are things I won’t do, these are people I won’t hang with.
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13
Look at what temptations are common to you and apply these principles to overcome them.
