SS PODCAST: Former NFL LB Thomas R. Williams on moving from passion to purpose

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING THOMAS R. WILLIAMS

Thomas R. Williams is a former linebacker who played his college football at USC and was a fifth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with Jacksonville, Seattle, New England, Buffalo, Carolina and Tampa before retiring from football due to a neck injury in 2012.

In college, Williams was dubbed “The Hitman” and was a team captain who helped the Trojans to a 59-6 record and two national titles. His teammates voted him as the team’s most inspirational player in the 2007 season.

Williams is now a professional speaker who leads a non-profit called “Pursuits of Greatness,” through which he helps college student-athletes prepare for life after playing sports. He is also the author of two books, including “Permission to Dream” and “The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness.”

Today on the podcast, Williams shares his story of coming to Christ, what it means to him to be the “Professional Reminder,” playing for coach Pete Carroll at USC, and how he moved from passion to purpose.
