“No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” Acts 2:16
Spirit-Covered People
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and relive the Michael Jordan era in the NBA. To me, that’s when the NBA was at its finest, at least in my lifetime (I’m 25). Teams despised one another back then, and it was awesome. Players were more loyal to the team that drafted them back then, and it was awesome. It didn’t seem like there was a pack of stars who hung out together in the offseason or first-round draft picks uniting on the same team because they are friends.
In Acts 2, I’m reminded of the era we are living in—the last days—and how awesome it is we are living in it. We live in an era where God has poured out his Spirit on all His people. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, the same Spirit that blew like a twister inside the walls of the upper room, the same Spirit that spoke in tongues and dreams and boldness of the martyrs, wants to guide my steps. If I could digest such power that rages inside me, I would surely fall to my knees and cry, “Why do You care this much to live in me?” I’m slowly understanding and living differently.
