“ But when the fullness of time had come, God sent His Son…” Galatians 4:4

A Faithful and Timely God

Bill Russell was a great basketball center for the Boston Celtics and is in the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was on 11 championship teams (in 13 NBA seasons), by far the most championships in professional basketball.

The Celtics featured a fast break offense and Russell, a great defender and rebounder, was a vital part of the team. Many times he would deflect a shot attempt, catch it in mid-air, and fire a long pass to start the fast break. His timing had to be precise in order to execute such a play.

Isn’t it amazing how God’s timing is not only precise, but perfect as well? In Genesis 21, at the “set time,” Sarah gave birth to Isaac. In Esther 4, Esther became queen of Persia “for such a time as this.” In Ecclesiastes 3, Solomon wrote that there is “a time for every purpose under heaven.” Proverbs 23:23b says, “a word spoken in due season, how good it is!”

I was headed for eternal destruction until the Spirit of God, in due season, spoke to me and I responded to His call. And since my conversion, God’s exquisite timing, through blessings and trials, has helped me grow in my faith.

King David said in Psalm 31:15…”my times are in Your hand…”

God is an amazing God. Why not trust His timing in all areas of your life?
