“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” —John 1:12
Identity in Christ
There is often a chasm between between who we think we are and who we really are. As Christ-followers, it’s crucial that we know and accept that we are, in fact, children of God, the Most High King! As we read in John 1, to all who believe in His name He gave the right to be adopted into His family. We are no longer helpless sinners. Through Christ’s sacrifice we are now empowered believers with the strength of the Holy Spirit inside of us!
We need to believe this first in order to live it out. Before we are able to say to God, “Here I am, send me,” we need to be confident of our place before God.
What is keeping you from believing your true place as a son or daughter of the King? What lies and fears do you need to overcome in order to allow Christ’s perfection to shine through your imperfections for the advancement of the Gospel? God can use any Christ-follower—no matter where they came from or what they’ve done in the past—if in humility they are willing to say, “Here I am, send me!”
