“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you’-when you already have it with you.” (Proverbs 3:27-28)

The Time is Now

Hall of Fame baseball player Roberto Clemente once said, “Any time you have a chance to make a difference in this world and you don’t, then you are wasting your time on Earth.” Clemente showed that he really believed what he said through his actions. He was known for his charitable work and died at the age of 38 in a plane crash.

That plane was carrying supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua and Clemente wanted to personally assure the supplies were being given to people in need. Every year, the Roberto Clemente Award is given to the player best representing baseball through community involvement and positive contributions.

As Christians, we need to live our lives with a sense of urgency and try our best to get the most of every day. When we see an opportunity to help someone in need or a chance to share the Gospel, we need to take full advantage of it. If we push things off until the “right” time, it will be too late more often than not. Let’s strive to make a difference today and every day.
