“I am the way, and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6
The Right Direction
The building in which I work in downtown Pittsburgh is located near the river, on the edge of town. Since the area contains no shops or restaurants, people don’t usually wander down that way unless they work there. So I was surprised when I was leaving the building one Friday evening and saw two people wearing Philadelphia Phillies t-shirts walking in my direction. Certain that they were in town for the Phillies/Pirates game that night, I chuckled and said, “You’re going the wrong way.”
“We parked our car, and the attendant told us which way to go, but I guess we got lost,” the woman said. Because I was heading toward PNC Park on my way home, I suggested they walk with me and led them to their destination.
Sometimes we know where we want to go, but we don’t know how to get there. However, our ultimate goal should be Heaven, and we have the GPS to show us the way because Jesus says He is the way — the only way: “I am the way and the truth and the life,” Jesus says in John 14:6. “No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
As you go about your day today, remember that the ultimate way toward life is through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
