“. . . at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord . . .” — Philippians 2:10-11

Entering the Room

Several years ago I was attending a hockey reception in Pittsburgh that included numerous fans and a few of the Penguin hockey players. Everyone was milling around chatting, but all at once the room got quiet. I turned and saw that Mario Lemieux had walked in, and everyone just sort of stood in silent awe. As the Penguin superstar began to blend in with the crowd, normalcy returned and the people went back to their conversations. But I was amazed that one person could have such an effect that all activity in a crowd would cease.

Now imagine if it had been Jesus. Many people today ignore His existence or are even openly hostile toward Him. But the day will come when He does “enter the room,” and at that time every knee will bow and acknowledge who He is.

Let us make sure we are ready for that day because the Lord’s arrival will be far more spectacular and have greater eternal significance than that of any sports star.
