“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” — Hebrews 11:1

Defying the Odds

In their inaugural season as an expansion team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights shocked the sports world by going to the Stanley Cup Finals. They didn’t let the fact that their roster was constructed mostly of players from other organizations keep them from being competitive this year. Instead, they used it as motivation and believed in themselves when nobody else did. It resulted in an unforgettable season that nearly ended in a championship.

When we encounter difficult situations in our lives, it might seem like the odds are stacked against us. In those moments, we can choose to get angry and frustrated, or continue to place our hope and trust in God. In some ways, hope is an act of defiance. No matter what the circumstances are, hope means continuing to follow God’s will for our lives and believing the promises He made to us.

We have hope because there is absolutely nothing that can change who we are in Christ. He loves us and will never forsake us. Being a Christian isn’t always easy, but God is right there with us every step of the way. When things get tough, we can’t forget the reason for our hope.
