“That there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:25-27
The Greatest Team
Community has proven time and time again to be an essential part of our lives. Far too often the seasons in which we feel distant from God, we can also separate ourselves from our community as well. Jesus was all about community and he knew how important he was to them — but also how important they were to him.
In college, I was part of an amazing basketball team (we were national champions). As great as a team we were, I have never experienced anything like my church family. Greatest team I’ve ever experienced. Here, I get to play so many roles: Barnabus/Mordecai (encouragers/friend), Paul (teacher/leader), Timothy (student/learner). I hope I don’t ever become a Christian who takes for granted what God is doing in me for the community he placed me in. It’s never about us but always others.
We all need the best of each other to keep growing. The stronger each part is, the stronger the whole. Of course each person’s walk is different and our seasons vary, but no matter where we are or what we are enduring, our tribe is standing with locked arms on that front line.
Don’t ever miss who God placed in your circle. Let’s take care of our “body,” which Jesus has given us, and keep each other encouraged, accountable, loved and fixed on Him! Start today and let those people know how committed you are to their hearts.
