“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.” — 1 Peter 4:10-11
My Biggest Fear
Public speaking, flying and death are some of the most common fears that people identify with. My children asked me one day what my biggest fear was. I sat them down, remembered this verse and told them a scenario about my fear.
On judgement day, when I get called home, I picture meeting God face to face and sitting down in a chair. To the right of me is a small table with a big book. To the left, the same. God will ask me to pick up the book on my right and read. In it I will read all the incredible things I did for God with the gifts He blessed me with. Then He will ask me to pick up the other book. In there are all the things I could have done for God with my gifts but didn’t. My biggest fear … there is something written in that book.
God’s hand on our lives has produced so much joy, love and constant grace. The greatest way we can give back to Him is by being obedient, taking what He has given us and putting it into use.
Let’s not live a life in which any of our gifts are wasted. We all have special qualities and giftings. They haven’t been entrusted to us just to be dormant. Rise up and gift our Gifter with what He has bestowed upon us. If we all made a difference in one person’s life each day, how much greater would the Kingdom look? Encourage, teach, give, love, sing, listen, preach, serve.
Do what you can, with what you’ve been given, wherever God has placed you today.
