“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” — Colossians 3:12

Take The Time To Share God’s Love

Recently, we learned of the death of one of our son’s high school friends. Apparently, he died of a drug overdose. He spent much of his life in boarding schools and felt like his need for love was never answered.

He stayed with us briefly during his senior year and after one week asked, “Why is it that you and your wife always speak in loving tones to each other while my parents are always hollering and putting each other down?” I told him about Jesus, but like many young men, he had other interests.

We prayed for him from time to time, but lost touch when our son went to college. As the years passed, we heard of his different struggles but we failed to act. I should have taken him to lunch and tried to build a friendship.

The need for Christians to become more proactive is greater than ever before. Whether we’re on the baseball field, or at a Starbucks, we must pray and ask God to give us the strength and wisdom to reach hurting people. Every city and town in America is a mission field and we must become the Jesus that others are looking for.
