“Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15-16

What Time Is It?

The phrase “What time is it?” became very popular because of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls when they were winning so many NBA titles. Many teams in the early 1990s made that their rally cry, and it was seen before tip-off at most high school and college gyms.

Athletes play games and they must always be cognizant of the time in the game. Why? Very simply because time does run out and the game will be over! Many games are won and lost because teams, players and coaches mismanage the clock. Vince Lombardi has the all-time quote on this matter: “We didn’t lose the game, we just ran out of time.”

We as believers are in a game, and God is keeping time (Psalm 139:16). The game of life will come to an end. But it’s a good ending if you’re a believer, because we win! In the meantime, God wants us to be in the game and make the most of the days He has given us.

What time is it?

1. It is time to turn on your light (Ephesians 5:8).

2. It is time to walk the walk and talk the talk (Ephesians 5:1, 4).

3. It is time to live holy (Ephesians 5:3).

4. It is time get in the game (Ephesians 5:15-16).

God has even given us the tool to play — it’s the Holy Spirit, as we see in Ephesians 5:18: “…be filled with the Spirit.” When the Holy Spirit controls us, we will never run out of time.
