Daily Devotional: Wednesday, December 8 - Who Made You a New Creation?

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

Who made you a new creation? And how did He do it? God initiated and Jesus accomplished the plan to reconcile that which was lost back to Him who sits on the throne.

We cannot become a new creation on our own. Sure, we can make some changes, but we cannot become new. We need more than just help, we need Someone to rescue us. First Peter 1:18-19 tells us, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

Knowing Who rescued us and how He went about saving us should impact us to the depths of our souls. What a difference it makes when Someone pursues us and loves us unconditionally. When we place our confidence in ourselves and walk with pride, we can be shaken fairly quickly.

But there is a confidence and humility that comes with knowing the lengths Jesus has gone to in order to reconcile us to the Father in Heaven. There isn’t a bad day out there that can change how much Jesus loves us! There isn’t a mistake we can make that is big enough to keep God’s grace and forgiveness out of our reach.
