Daily Devotional: Wednesday, February 23 - Partner With God

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” — John 13:34-35

God desires to be known and He, by His mercy, has chosen to partner with His creation and all those who follow Him to make Him known to the world.

What does it mean to follow Jesus? What does it mean to partner with God? What Jesus does, we do. Our love for Jesus is best displayed when we obey and learn what it means to abide. An apprentice learns the ways of his master; what he sees his master do, he knows and does likewise. Soon his master will send him out to do his work. The master looks to multiply so that more work can be done.

God told Adam and Eve to “be fruitful and multiply.” They spent time with God to learn who He is and what He is like and represented to the world, but they did not obey nor abide. They wanted to rule the earth, not on behalf of God but to dethrone Him and build kingdoms for their glory.

Even though they failed, God showed great patience, kindness and compassion, and continued to look for people to partner with who would represent to others who He is and what He is like. Are you one of those people?
