Like a seed in the ground ready to burst and bear fruit, you already have everything you need in you to become all that the Lord has called you to be and do everything He desires you to do. If you have faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, your sins have been wiped off the books, and you are saved from the coming wrath and condemnation of God. In the meantime, the Lord has also given you His Holy Spirit to live inside of you — to teach, guide, strengthen and sustain you, so you can be useful to Him.
Jesus taught His disciples that the Holy Spirit always focuses our hearts and minds on Christ and on the truth of God’s Word. John 15:26 says, “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father — the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father — he will testify about me.” John 16:13a says, “[H]e will guide you into all the truth.” The Holy Spirit will never lead you to believe or do anything that is contrary to the written Word of God.
The Holy Spirit is indeed God’s power in us to do and become everything He desires. It is our personal trainer to guide and help us. Peter proclaimed in 2 Peter 1:3, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
