Picture this: You’ve trained, learned all the strategy, been in the gym and haven’t missed a practice. Your team has gelled. You’ve done all you can to prepare for game day — but it never comes.

Who doesn’t love game day? It’s why we train. It’s why we work. It’s why we play. God hasn’t given you a passion and equipped you with all you need for you to never have the opportunity to put it into practice. Along with desire and equipping, God’s call on your life will include opportunity.

Some things are in our control, like our effort and attitude. Other things are beyond what we can make happen. When God is calling you to something, He is at work arranging a moment where you can step into that call. Maybe it is an invitation to join a team, stepping into a new role or responsibility, or a conversation where you can share the hope of Jesus with someone. If it is His will, though, it will happen.

Be on the lookout for the opportunities God places in front of you. Like the apostle Paul, we should be praying for opportunities as well.

While His general will for our lives is the same for every person, God reveals His specific will for us through changing our desires, giving us what we need to succeed, and opening the door of opportunity for us. He just asks us to trust Him enough to take steps of faith to enter into it!
