“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” — 2 Corinthians 5:20

Though we grew up in California, my brother attended a prestigious university near Washington D.C. Why did my brother travel so far from home to attend college? He wanted to become an ambassador for the United States, and being near the nation’s capitol made sense for his career path. My brother was hoping that one day the president of the U.S. would appoint him as an ambassador.
If my brother became a U.S. ambassador, he would move to a foreign country and live and work in the embassy. He would represent the president and the U.S. in that foreign country. If anyone wanted to know what life was like in the U.S., they would only have to visit the embassy and meet with the ambassador to learn. The U.S. embassy is a little bit of America a long way from home.
If you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are His ambassador — 2 Corinthians 5:20 emphasizes this. Our eternal home is in Heaven and Jesus is our King. We represent Him as His ambassadors on earth, our temporary home. Wherever a U.S. ambassador goes into a foreign country, he or she represents the president and their home country. We too represent Jesus Christ and His Kingdom wherever we go.
Remember that today: You are His ambassador. Wherever you go, whether that’s work, school, practice or church, you are His representative.
