In this world, we experience trouble. It may come in the form of general annoyances, or an affliction like an injury that keeps us out of competition or keeps us on the sidelines of life. Regardless of the source or severity, God commands us to have courage because He has overcome the world!

Jesus is constantly encouraging us and building us up. He does this through His Word, His Spirit and His people. As we read God’s Word, we are encouraged by the many promises He gives us. One of the most encouraging promises, to me, is that God is with us always. He tells us not to fear for He is with us; to be strong and courageous because He’s with us wherever we go (Joshua 1:9). He is at our right hand.

God also promises to provide for our needs, give us peace, fight for us and give us rest. And He’s promised to give us His Holy Spirit. The Spirit encourages us as He leads us, comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, teaches us to pray, and gives us the ability to understand God’s Word.

God uses His people as encouragement for us as they point us to God’s truth through words spoken, meeting physical needs, listening and asking sincere questions, and praying with and for us.

Thank God for the multitude of ways He encourages us. And encourage someone else by sharing with them how God has encouraged you.
