Daily Devotional: Friday, April 26 - All-Access Pass

“But you are God’s chosen treasure — priests who are kings, a spiritual ‘nation’ set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.” — 1 Peter 2:9 (TPT)

If you’ve attended many major sporting events, you’re familiar with the varying levels of access determined by your ticket or credentials. If you’re fortunate enough to snag an all-access pass, you hold the golden ticket. From the locker room to the court or sidelines, you’re free to roam wherever your heart desires.

There is a huge difference between being a spectator occupying a seat in the stands and being an insider who has full behind-the-scenes access to the private places, the secret places, the coveted places. Spectators observe, but VIPs experience.

As Christians, God gives us VIP access to His presence so that we may know Him.

He invites us into His secret places to sit with Him. He offers us protection, rescue and rest. He does not want us to be mere spectators — He has so much more for us to experience! His death on the cross has lifted the veil that separated us from Him. We now have unlimited VIP access into the very presence of God because of the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our sins. He has set you apart as His chosen one.

“O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me” (Psalms 139:1-5, ESV).

God yearns for you to abide in His presence. He doesn’t just want you to watch from the sidelines; He wants you to be immersed in Him so that He can reveal Himself to you more every day. It’s time to stop spectating and experience all that God has for us. You have an all-access pass into the presence of your Creator.
