Change is an undeniable force that shapes our lives in countless ways. Throughout my career coaching high school athletics in Texas, I’ve come to recognize the rhythm of change, especially during the spring semester. It’s a time marked by negotiations, transitions and anticipation of next season. Students eagerly prepare for graduation, while middle schoolers cautiously step into the world of high school. In the realm of sports, old lineups make room for new faces, reflecting the ever-changing nature of competition.
Yet, beyond the realm of athletics, change affects every aspect of our lives. From shifts in family dynamics to the milestones of life — retirements, graduations, weddings, births and even funerals — we are constantly navigating the currents of change. None of us are exempt from the inevitability of change.
In the midst of life’s uncertainties, one truth remains unwavering: God’s unchanging nature. He is steadfast, and His promises stand firm. Here are a few reassuring promises from His Word:
– Isaiah 55:11 assures us that His promises are rooted deep and always fulfill their purpose.
– Malachi 3:6 declares His unchanging nature: “I am the Lord, and I do not change.”
– Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus Christ remains constant throughout time.
– James 1:17 assures us that every good and perfect gift comes from God, who does not change like shifting shadows.
God never changes. His love never runs out and His grace is eternal. His Word always accomplishes His purposes, and He promises multiple times in His Word that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Change is an undeniable part of life’s journey, touching every one of us at some point. But as believers in Christ, we have an anchor of hope that is both sure and steadfast (Hebrews 6:19, above).
Even in the face of life-altering events like a devastating loss, a challenging diagnosis, or the upheaval of our circumstances, we can take comfort in the unchanging nature of God. The world around us may shift and tremble, yet God remains steadfast. He walks with us through every trial, offering His unwavering presence and unfailing love. No matter how chaotic life may seem, we can trust that God is in control and that His promises endure forever.
He’s our rock, steady and unchanging. His love and hope know no end — they endure forever. The God who set the stars in motion and triumphed over death in Jesus is the very same God who desires to lead and shape your life. Trust in the One who never wavers or changes.
