I absolutely despise sitting in the stands. The main reason is because of all the “fans” that surround you. It seems like there is always that one guy who reads every message board and knows everything every player or coach should do.

For instance, last year against LSU, one of our defensive backs took a wrong angle, lost the receiver, got beat over the top, and was scored on. This guy behind me began berating the player, saying how he could play the position so much better. Seeing how short and large this guy was, I just chuckled.

We live in an instant gratification society. I call it a “microwave generation.” If you want to know how good or bad you are, just look on social media and you’ll quickly find out. But is that where you want to find your value? Do you want it to depend on the tides of the world or opinions of others? Or would you rather allow it to come from the only One who matters?

When we truly have our focus of worship right and our heart fixed on the Lord, we can truly begin to know our value in the Lord. Our worth and value is in nothing else but Him.
