“Finally these men said, ‘We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.’” — Daniel 6:5

You often hear about playing for an “audience of One” among Christian athletes. They say this because in the sports world, there will always be critics, fan-board opinions and outside pressure to perform. These athletes know it is impossible to please everyone, but we can please One — God!
Daniel was a man who had his own critics. “At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, ‘We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God’” (Daniel 6:4-5).
Wouldn’t you love for your faith to be your biggest fault? But too often we let the fear of what people think overcome us. When we are led by our faith as followers of Christ, people should see something different than the world. How we deal with others is a direct reflection of how we let God deal with us. If we know God’s love, we will love. If we know we’re accepted by God, we will offer grace. If we feel rejected by people, we’ll be OK because we’ve been chosen by God.
We have the unique privilege to show Jesus to the world through our actions and reactions. This can only happen when we are living for an audience of One.
