“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” — 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Have you ever ice skated? I learned to ice skate when I was in college. The first time I laced up skates was with some friends and, wow, what a disaster. I had no chance of staying on my feet, and there was no way I was letting go of that wall.
The funny thing is, as I thought back to my first time on the ice, I thought about my early days as a Christian. I clung to my Bible like that wall I never wanted to let go of. But then I would build a little confidence and inch away into the open. If I got a little cocky, I might lose my balance, and while falling I would take someone else down.
That can be so much like our Christian walk — just when we think we are cruising and we get filled up with a little pride, we lose our way and possibly even bring someone else down.
The lesson to be learned is not to step out from the wall and skate freely, but to take small steps and build up your strength in Christ. As your foundation in Christ strengthens, you will be able to move through life with greater confidence.
