“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31

Sports bring people together. Crowds cheer on their favorite players. Big plays make the highlight reels and top-10 lists. Trophies are handed out and players are often idolized. But sometimes, God uses the game not to make someone famous, but to make Himself known.
Recently, I had the opportunity to pray with a very talented athlete at an all-star event. Her game is next-level, but what she gained that day went far beyond the court. She met the very One who gave her the ability to play in the first place. She encountered the Chain Breaker. The Healer. The Savior who will never abandon her and who is always for her.
That moment reminded me: Sports can open doors, but only Jesus can open hearts, and that’s the only win of eternal significance. In the world of sports, it’s easy to chase glory — the headlines, the stats, the trophies. But those things fade.
God’s glory never fades. God’s love goes so much deeper. And when we use our gifts to point others to Him — whether it’s praying with a teammate, coaching with character, or playing for more than wins — we’re building something that lasts far longer than a championship banner.
That all-star athlete didn’t just walk away with memories from a big game. She walked away with a moment that could change her life forever. Because the court may have brought her to the event, but it was Jesus who met her there.
When our platform becomes His altar, lives are changed.
