“’But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’” — Matthew 16:15-16

If you ride with me in my truck, one thing you will find is that my music playlist is weak — mundane at best. Give me some Randy Travis or Alabama and I can be entertained for days. I mainly listen to podcasts. A great one I listen to weekly is Sports Spectrum’s — shoutout to Matt Forte for doing a great job!
One of the things he frequently does is open the interviews by asking his guests, “Who is Jesus to you?” As I heard that question over and over in my mind, I thought about Matthew 16. Jesus had been doing some mighty things throughout towns and villages, and it had caused quite a stir.
So, Jesus came to the disciples and asked them, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They responded that some thought He was Elijah and some John the Baptist or one of the other prophets. But then Jesus asked a pointed question to them: “Who do you say I am?” (v. 15).
With that, Peter boldly confessed, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (v. 16). There could not have been a more accurate answer than this and it wasn’t revealed to him by seeing miracles, but rather by experiencing the greatest of all miracles when Jesus changed him!
To some, Jesus is a great Teacher, a Healer, a Helper when we get in a tight spot. While all of these are good, if Jesus is not first the Lord of your life, then you have the answer all wrong.
So today, if you have never surrendered your life to Christ, please make that decision sooner rather than later!
