THIS IS THE GET IN THE GAME PODCAST
WITH SCOTT LINEBRINK
In recognition of July 4, Scott Linebrink brings us a bonus conversation with his friend, Jay Doerfler, a United States Air Force pilot, about service, putting others first and what it means to truly put one’s life down for someone else.
Doerfler fought in combat in Afghanistan and shares stories from his experiences about what true service looks like, and how he’s lived his life both in his work and his faith through the commands of Philippians 2:3-4, which reads, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Doerfler also talks about the similarity between training for combat and being in the Word regularly. “What you devote a lot of your time and attention to, both mentally and physically, becomes what you rely on in the time of need,” he said. “So if you’re spending that time in the Word and in prayer and in fellowship, when times get tough, that’s where you’ll go.”
This weekend and always, we honor and thank those who serve in our armed forces.
