Mike Sweeney spent 16 seasons in the major leagues from 1995 to 2010. He was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 1991 MLB Draft, made his MLB debut in September 1995, and went on to spend 13 seasons in Kansas City, getting named to five All-Star teams.

After stints with the Oakland A’s, Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies, Sweeney signed a one-day contract to retire with Kansas City in 2011. Four years later, he was inducted into the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame.
