THIS IS EPISODE 540 OF THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
Scott Hanson is the man you hear and see every Sunday during the football season hosting the NFL’s RedZone channel. He joined NFL Media in 2006 as a national reporter covering all 32 teams. He transitioned into studio hosting in 2008, and was named the host of NFL RedZone during its inaugural season in 2009. Produced by NFL Network, NFL RedZone whips around every NFL game on Sunday afternoons delivering the touchdowns and most exciting moments live and in high-definition. NFL RedZone and Hanson are widely praised by the fans and media.
Hanson graduated cum laude from the prestigious Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University while playing football for the Orangemen. He and his teammates were a combined 20-4 during his junior and senior years. His other broadcasting stops included Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, WFTS-TV (ABC) in Tampa, WICS-TV (NBC) in Springfield, Illinois, and WPBN-TV (NBC) in Traverse City, Michigan.
Outside of his broadcast career, Scott’s involvement with various worldwide Christian charities has seen him serve the needy in Africa, India, Russia, the Amazon jungle, Haiti, the Philippines, Mexico and domestic locations in the U.S.
On today’s podcast, we welcome Hanson back to the show as he shares about gearing up for the 2020 NFL season, how he prepares for each Sunday’s RedZone broadcast, how God has brought him through the death of his father in 2020, and what God is teaching him through the various books and podcasts he’s been listening to.

I am not a Jesus follower because I am a good man. I follow Him because I’m a sinner in need of a savior & that’s who He is. God cut through a lot of pride, error, skepticism & blindness to bring me to this point. Now, my relationship with God is the single *greatest* thing in my life. (& remember: the guy claiming this gets *paid to watch football*) ;) Jesus has made all the difference in my life – & He offers the same to you – on this #goodfriday & every day. You haven’t “out sinned” His love. Even those of you who will comment that I’m “following a fairy tale” or “your ‘god’ doesn’t care about us – look at COVID19” or “keep your religion to yourself” … my friends, I love you. Jesus loves in spite of sin. He died to pay the penalty for it. You can turn from your old life, talk to Him right now, and start anew. And that is good news. #goodfriday
