SS PODCAST: Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso on God's guidance in her coaching

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING PATTY GASSO

Patty Gasso is the softball head coach at the University of Oklahoma. She took over the program in 1995 and has led the Sooners to six Women’s College World Series championships (2000, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022).

Over the past two seasons, OU has won back-to-back national championships and their record in 2021 and ’22 was an unbelievable 115-7. Ā Gasso is a four-time winner of NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year, 14-time Big 12 Coach of the Year, and in 2012 she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Today on the podcast, we begin a series of interviews Sports Spectrum did in Norman with members of Oklahoma’s softball program. First, we sat down with Gasso, the coaching legend herself, and talked about her journey at Oklahoma, trusting in her faith to guide her as a coach, and how she sees her team staying grounded amid all of the success it has had.
